| Job Description: | This listing closes on 2/13/2026 at 5:00 PM Pacific Time (US & Canada); Tijuana. Inspects construction of streets, curbs, gutters, storm drains, sewers, grading projects, water mains, reservoirs, underground vaults, and appurtenant structures to insure work meets contract specifications, permit limitations or work orders; inspects all phases of construction including traffic control, grading, trenching, compaction, backfilling, mixing, pouring, and finishing of concrete or asphalt aggregates, placement of forms and reinforcing steel; takes samples of work for tests: inspects materials for conformance with specifications, and determines if concrete or asphalt aggregate mixes conform with construction specifications; interprets plans, engineering drawings, and specifications; determines if construction is in accordance with federal, state, and City safety regulations; identifies and specifies required corrections and repairs necessary prior to final acceptance of construction; insures proper placement and maintenance of construction and traffic control signs, barricades, and warning devices related to projects; reports work is not in accordance with specifications to supervisor; prepares and maintains daily diary, records and reports, both manually and electronically; inspects private construction of driveways and sidewalks performed under permit to insure conformity with City ordinances; coordinates with Building Department inspectors, other City departments, divisions, and private utilities who inspect projects for conformance with Building Code; documents and creates reports of physical conditions of City streets and other areas and infrastructure in the public right-of-way; follows established safety procedures; drives on City business. |
| Job Requirements: |
Knowledge of construction methods, procedures, and materials; current Greenbook and City of Burbank standards of construction; occupational hazards and safety practices related to construction sites and traffic control; spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Skill in operating modern computers and related software; using independent judgement and decision-making skills based on standard policy or working procedures and federal, state, and city safety regulations. Ability to read and interpret plans, engineering drawings, and specifications; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; follow written and oral directions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, workmen, supervisors, fellow employees, and the public; develop and maintain necessary skills from on-the-job training to meet the standards of performance; work overtime as required. |
