The play "The Bench" was written in 1983 by Soviet playwright Alexander Gelman. At the time, it was banned from production, as the plot revolves around a rather unsavory event: a man fails to recognize a woman he met a year ago. From there, a web of lies and truths unfolds, leading to the gradual revelation of the characters. Will two complete strangers be able to find the love and mutual understanding they are searching for?
For the first time, the play was staged by Oleg Yefremov at the Moscow Art Theatre with Tatyana Doronina and Oleg Tabakov.
